My response to our new president.

I must say I was overcome with relief last night as people on the street screamed out "Obamas President". I'm a bit sceptical though as to how the american people are going to react to having Obama as president since people felt so strongly about their preffered candidate and it seemed like the lines were drawn more intensly then ever before. Needless to say all of America will be watching Obamas every move and there will be without a doubt major criticism every step of the way. The question thats raised in my mind is will Obama being president divide the country so much that the people who weren't in support of him will be unwilling to work togeather with the rest of the country in a way that holds us all back? For better or worse he is our president and I hope that the American people stay open minded and give him the chance he deserves.

I couldn't agree with you more! There is such a long stressful road ahead for Obama and I think without the hlep of his nation it will be even harder for him to do what needs to be done. Getting grief about every movement he makes I think that the supporters will have to be even stronger since we have now reached a path that no one has gone down before, a african american as president, what a day we have reached!

It's true, Barack Obama will be watched more intensely than Presidents in the past because of the condition that the economy is in, but also because he is the first African American President. He has a tough work ahead.

I agree and really hope he pulls through with all of his plans. As far as people working together and being divided if people want to be that stubborn than they can. Either way he is president and made it clear in his speech last night that he is here for all of the people not just those who voted for him. We will have to see what happens but I have a good feeling about the next 4 years.
